Texel Support

From the first conversion to restoring a purchase, here is how Texel actually behaves.

Quick start

Four steps, one conversion. The original always stays.

01

Choose photos

Open Texel, tap Choose Photos, or import HEIC files from Files. Up to 9 photos.

02

Check compatibility

Texel checks the format, Live Photo status, RAW, edit state, and existing style first. Unsupported photos are skipped with a reason.

03

Convert

Confirm to begin. iCloud originals download for real, with current stage and queue progress. You can cancel at any time.

04

Save a new photo

The result is saved as a new photo through PhotoKit. Texel reads it back to confirm it is still HEIC; the original is never overwritten.

Common questions

Which photos are supported?

HEIC / HEIF originals captured on iPhone 16 / 17. Live Photo video, ProRAW, JPEG, and PNG are not supported; images that already carry the third-generation style are skipped.

How is the free quota counted?

Five photos per day, reset on the device's local calendar day, shared by the app, Share Extension, and Shortcuts. Only a successful save or export uses one photo; failures, skips, incompatible files, and cancellations do not.

Is Pro a one-time purchase or a subscription?

One-time purchase with unlimited photos forever. Restore Purchases is supported. It is not a subscription.

I bought Pro but it is still locked.

Check your network and Apple ID, then tap Restore Purchases on the Pro page. If it still does not restore, contact us through GitHub Issues with the app version, iOS version, and approximate purchase date. Do not post your order number or Apple ID publicly.

Saving failed or the photo is missing.

Check whether Texel has Add to Photos permission in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Photos. Results usually appear in Recents. If the write succeeds but read-back verification fails, the result page shows a warning; do not save again, and contact us through GitHub Issues first.

What if I denied photo permission?

There are two ways: allow photo access for Texel in iOS Settings, or return to the home screen and import from Files. File import does not need library read access, but saving still needs Add to Photos permission.

iCloud photos are slow.

Originals must download from iCloud; speed depends on your network and Apple's service. Texel shows real download progress and lets you cancel the queue. Photos already saved are never written twice.

Where do I change the language?

Open Settings from the top-right of the home screen, then Language. Choose Follow System, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, English, or Japanese. Restart the app after changing it.

Share Extension and Shortcuts

Both use the same conversion service and free quota as the app. If the system does not show a photo-library write prompt inside the Share Extension on first run, open the app first to grant permission. Shortcuts can save to Photos, return the converted file, or check compatibility only.

How do I report a problem?

Open GitHub Issues. Include the app version, iOS version, device model, reproduction steps, and the diagnostic code from the result page. Do not upload private photos, your Apple ID, order numbers, or other sensitive information.
